HAHN Automation around the World – Running for a good cause

Despite Corona and ongoing regional restrictions, we managed to organize the first global HAHN fit event this month. We participated as an international team at the Wings for Life World Run 2021 and "collected" kilometers for a good cause. In total, around 170 HAHN employees from ten locations in eight countries took to the starting line and ran as far as they could alone or in groups.

The Wings for Life World Run is an international event that generates donations for spinal cord research under the motto "Run for those who can't". Thus, 100% of the entry fees and additional donations go to research for a possible cure for paraplegia. Since it was not possible to hold organized runs in many countries of the world due to the respective COVID restrictions, this year there was once again the possibility to track one's run via app. All participants started at the same time worldwide and ran until they were overtaken by a virtual catcher car in the app.

We are happy and proud that we were able to recruit so many motivated employees for our team, so that in the end a total of 967.6 km were collected for our team. Since our Chinese colleagues started at a different time due to the time difference, their results were unfortunately not taken into account in the overall ranking by Wings for Life.

Nevertheless, the individual results are also quite respectable: our best runner almost cracked the 30 km mark (29.11 km) and our best female runner managed over 16 km (16.04 km). Out of 5,754 teams, we were able to achieve an incredible 97th place. And we are sure that we can top this again next year under better training conditions!

In total, we were able to collect 3,280 € for the good cause with the entry fees paid by HAHN Automation and further donations generated by the runners. We are very pleased that we can not only strengthen the team spirit of our employees with such an event, but at the same time support such an important topic as spinal cord research. For us it was the first, but certainly not the last participation in the Wings for Life World Run and we are already looking forward to hopefully being able to train together again soon thanks to HAHN fit. Until then we wish you all the best and the most important - stay healthy!
